Vox
Vox is a “media activist” collective around a common interest: video. Since 2002.
The aim is to make videos with “another view on society”. Contrary to traditional media where information passes via several “intermediates” operating as filters, Vox wants to give direct access to audio-visual tools to individuals and groups. Vox defends unbudgeted films with vision. The proposer of the project wants to say something that’s rarely been expressed… without commercial aims!
Vox is a collective existing in meetings that happen every first and third Wednesday of the month. These meetings are open to everyone. Vox is about a non-hierarchical way of functioning, based on the keywords: exchange, synergy and conviviality. The decision to accept a new project does not depend on strict rules but depends on flexible criteria: intention, engagement, urgency.
Vox provides equipment: a DV camera (Sony TRV 20) and an edit table (G4/Final Cut Pro) in relation to the needs of the project itself and the other ongoing projects. Feedback and technical advice is available to the proposer of the project from other Vox-ers.. Vox organises training for “potential companions” following the needs and demands.
Vox composes regularly compilation tapes which are sent to festivals, collectives, media and associations sensible to this kind of work.
