ParcCentralPark

PCP is the re-appropriation of an empty space in the neighbourhood Poblenou, Barcelona, by neighbours, artists and all kind to mark the importance of public space in the city.

29 of May was the first gathering in a place called Parque Central, with the purpose of cleaning and start building on a public park. The place was left over for about 4 years, with the promise of the local governments to give the neighbourhood their park. Barcelona is growing is very fast and works very hard on his 'look' by the attraction of famous international architects or universal cultural events. Inhabitants complain on the lack of attention on local investments or social equipments.

The basic idea of PCP is building the park with our own hands. During 2004, next to cleaning and constructing, we did some meetings and debate in the place. Fireworks during Sant Juan, Live-streaming projections, open air cinema, exposition on historical buildings of the neighbourhood. Their has also been created a formal commission, with artists, urbanists, planners, neighbours, to gather information on the park, the aims, and so trying to propose an future alternative for the Paqrque Central.
