Bocas Locas

From 18 to 26 May 2002 a central reservation of the Brussels small circular became the ad-hoc stage for 21 story-tellers.

The Port de Ninove is well known in Brussels as a no-man’s land, but few know a tiny park is squeezed between the two double carriageways and tramways. The public space borders three municipalities, and its character is defined by the adjacent industrial area, a popular neighbourhood, canal, car an tram traffic. Meanwhile it is also the crossroads of people, languages and cultures.

Bocas Locas involved acts from story-tellers, comedians, actors, authors, singers, dancers, performers, humorists and rappers with Rwandese, Algerian, Congolese, Senegalese, Berber, Flemish, Argentian, Lebanese, Turkish, Canadian, Dutch, Belgian or Belgian backgrounds in theatre, literature, stand-up comedy, music, television, film, poetry and dance.

All were asked to tell a story about the city and their experience of it.

In collaboration with 'Brussel behoort ons toe/Bruxelles nous appartient' (BBOT - BNA), the KunstenFESTIVALdesArts and Raph & Estelle & Léon "chefs-décorateurs".
